Abstract
1962. That was the year that was. The year the Beatles hit the charts for the first time, West Side Story played in the cinemas, John Glenn shot into orbit and Crick, Watson and Wilkins gained the Nobel Prize in Physiology/ Medicine. And John Chippendale arrived in Lancaster. In this first of three articles Dr Chippendale presents an anecdotal look back at the Lancaster and district medical scene of 1962.
